Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his future following another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
