Fans Call for Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the actress are calling for that a man who leaped a barrier and touched the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating footage reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though legal records showed that he was due to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.
Record of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a performance. His Instagram account features clips of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is evidently a legal violation," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user wrote.
Fans Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further comment on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Event Details
In videos circulating online, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The film, to be launched on 21 November, is the second of a two-part interpretation of the popular theatrical production Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two contrasting characters.
The production itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, securing several for outstanding attire and set decoration.
