Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
