The Reform UK leader Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”
In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in recent years caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
